Pugs, Puggles and Kids

A word from hu-mom

The munchkins were over again this weekend.  We see them a lot on the weekends, because everyone works and goes to school during the week!

Our Rescue organization, Mid-Atlantic Pug Rescue, sees over and over again, folks surrendering, to our rescue, their pugs, usually older ones, because they have had a baby and don't have time for a dog now.  It is so sad!  Just look at Minnie and Mack below.  They fit right in with the grand kids and go nuts when they come over. I've also read that having pets while the kids were young help some children build up their immunity to pet borne allergies.

So please make sure you are ready for the LIFETIME of a pet when you adopt it!

Minnie gets right in the middle of playing most of the time, especially if it is something new!  She's toppled over block towers, grabbed a stuffed animal from time to time and licked sticky fingers and faces. The kiddos love it!  In the pictures above, she must have been worn out!

Take care of those furry ones and love them!

Given the proper introductions.. children and pets make a WONDERFUL combination.
Ernie and I BOTH love kids. We wish we had our own, like you two do.

I couldn't agree more. Some people take dogs when they are convenient and discard them like old clothes when they don't want them. It just breaks my heart. Pets are ours FOREVER!!! No question about it. You all do look so sweet on that couch.

I completely agree it just breaks my heart when I here that excuse for giving up a dog or a cat. I cant handle any of the other excuses either though: moving, getting married, not enough time.Love the pics of your guys

Yeah, I can imagine that it's terribly time consuming to watch dogs nap ;0)

GREAT message and one that more people should listen to. It is so sad how many dogs end up in rescue due to families having babies. The two can live very happily together but it does take commitment from the new mom and dad to work that out! It is a great arrangement ... when it works! Love the sleeping pugs pic!!

My mum can't understand how anyone can "give-up" a doggie - doggies are FAMILY and I'm sure - baby or no baby - all can get along in a loving manner!!

We agree totally! We are not disposable. So far, Mom doesn't have any hu-kids, but that day will come eventually. We might hit you up with questions at that point. You guys look like great playmates/snugglebuddies/babysitters. Kind of touching, really.

Hi Minnie and Mack,
This is something that is really important for everyone to know, it really is important that people are prepared for a dog, Mum is one of the people who are so passionate about people knowing what it means to have a dog, two of the people who live in our street had puppys and had to give them away after two or three weeks because they hadnt done the correct reserch in to the breed and the commitment a dog needs! It really breaks Mums heart and mine (as a dog who is loved so much its difficult to see a puppy being given up becasause of someones pure ignorance and stupidity!)Pets are for life! Awwww Minnie Moo you look soooooo sweet on that couch all curled up on the pillow! You both blend right in with the pillows!! You guys are the cutesest! Love, hugs, tummy rubs and licks Frank xxxxxxxxxxx
