Still in Recovery Mode

Hi everyone, hu-mom, Kathy, here.

Thank you all for your get well wishes!  I thought during my recovery I would be  posting more often....but reality set in.  Not even pictures.  Pain control has been an issue.  I can't take any pain control medication for various reasons.  I spend most of my day on the couch, feet up and dozing and icing the knees.

My follow up doctors appointment went well, he said the knees were doing great! I won't be able to run anymore, but I should be able to do everything else after recovery.

Physical therapy is tough! It feels good at the time, but afterwards it's a b*^#^h!  My therapists are great.   I really thought that by now, I would be almost back to normal.  I guess I just wasn't listening when the doctor was talking about recovery time.  I doing everything I've been told so hopefully things will turn around any day now!

The bruising is the most awful looking thing I have every seen.  Even the doctor made a comment about the amount of bruising. Hey, I bruise easily! I'm bruised from my inner thigh near my crotch to the middle of my calf.  He he he.

The puppies continue to be wonderful companions. Mario has to be touching me, Mack snoring on the back of the couch and Minnie behind my head....they are here day in and day out.   I know they miss going for walks and the dog park. Hu-siblings took Mario to his class last week and he did well.

Payton's mom, Christy,  is making a stop here on the Remember Payton Tour!  She's coming August 10 and I can't wait to meet her in person! We will certainly have pictures.

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the summer.  I hope to be able to visit blogs soon and be back into the swing of things.

Hu-mom, Kathy

Hi Kathy!
I'm glad that you are on the mend...though not as quickly as you had hoped. Lily Jayne will be feeling your pain (so you will be in good company)as she has knee surgery for a luxating patella tomorrow...but unlike a bruise from crotch to thigh, imagine if you had a cast from those areas to the toes. Yep...that'll be Lil' Lil come tomorrow after surgery takes place.
Take care and Much Love,
Mama Mindy

Sorry the road to recovery has been a little tougher than you expected. I imagine having both knees done together makes it even more awkward, but at least it will over with and you won't have to go through this again!
Love,
Christy
PS. Did you get my latest message on FB? No rush to reply, just wanted to make sure you go it.

Kathy, I certainly hope your recovery gets easier as the days pass, I'm sure they will and I agree with Christy about getting them both out of the way at the same time. You will be in our prayers!

Oh gosh, as someone who has been watching my mother go through exactly the same thing - I can totally relate to everything you said! And that picture of your knees in your next post too! :-)

My mother has had horrific bruising as well - not just around her knees but all the way up her thighs too. And a lot of swelling around her knees (your picture looked a lot better!) - but I think she was luckier with the pain because she didn't seem to suffer too much, didn't need to take pain killers post-surgery and was able to get through her physio relatively easily. She had her surgery laparoscopically - so only very small wounds - did you have the same? Your wounds looked fairly small too.

Anyway, I hope things are getting better by the time you read this and the pain is receding. Lots of good wishes for a speedy recovery!
