nice hole in the ceiling |
It all began about 2AM early Saturday morning. Hu-mom wasn't able to sleep so she was in the office on her 'puter. All of a sudden she heard a loud gushing of water. She was running around in her PJs trying to figure out what in the *@#* was going on!!! She finally realized the sound was coming from the ceiling in the foyer. Above the foyer is the kids' bathroom. She ran back upstairs, checked all the plumbing stuff in the upstairs bathroom and didn't find any problems. BUT the sound was loud and she knew water was escaping somewhere and going to show up soon. So she ran downstairs again and turned off the water to the house. The sound finally stopped. She then went back upstairs and woke up hu-dad who said "Huh?". So he came downstairs in less than his PJs. Hu-mom turned on the water to the house and the noise started again AND it started showing up in the foyer via a nice gap in the drywall ceiling. So hu-mom raced back and turned off the water, ran around looking for old towels and hu-dad ran the other way to get a bucket. Fortunately only a small amount of water escaped being caught and no damage to the bottom of the foyer. Hu-mom then was thinking, what if she had not been awake. She and hu-dad wouldn't have heard the noise and can't imagine how much water would have come down between 2AM and when they woke up. The thought gives her the hebby-jebbies. So insomnia pays off every now and then! The fun continued because we didn't have any running water in the house. We called the plumbing folks at 2AM and were told someone would call between 8-9AM. Of course, no call. We called at 9:15, we were told they were called and will be contacting us shortly. We called at 10:30, this time a supervisor was involved. We were then called back by the plumbing folks within 15 minutes, a truck was dispatched and would be at our house in 40 mins. And it was. Pipe had lots of pin holes and sprang a gusher. Pipe was replaced. And we had running water. You don't realize how much you use running water. We also missed having a toilet that flushed....no more said there. I will be happy to live with a hole in the foyer for a while as long as we have running water! So the plumbing guys left a little after 1PM.
We had a perspective foster family coming over at 1:30 to check out Miss Daisy. So hu-mom ran around and cleaned up the pipe replacement/repair mess that was right at the front door. She got everything done just before the family arrived!
Daisy loved them, they loved her. They are bringing over their pug/Boston Terrier mix (yes, like a mix of Kitty and Coco!) soon to meet Daisy to see if they will get along. We are very hopeful.
We also had another perspective family come at 3:30. They brought their two male pugs. OMG, Daisy went nuts. She ran and played with them the entire hour they were here and didn't interact with the humans at all. So hu-mom is afraid that meeting didn't go as well as the first. They both will make awesome adoptive families, having adopted from MAPR before, which ever one gets her.
(From Hu-mom: Minnie is put out by the whole foster thing and would rather Daisy not be staying at our house. She feels Daisy takes time away from humans, bugs her too much. Minnie is not a fan of any person/dog coming into her personal space. She does that thing where you pretend Daisy is not here. Minnie is just going to have to get used to having a foster around. I'm sure she'll come around. We are making sure she gets her time with us, and the same for Mack. At times, Daisy is just demanding.)
Daisy totaled wiped out after an afternoon of meet and greets. |
Mack doesn't quite fit in a kitty bed. |

You have had a crazy weekend and it's only Saturday! Hope the rest of it goes smoothly.
Minnie may never be super happy, but it can get better. I've learned that the opposite sex usually does better. But when you have one of each, that can be a problem.
Maybe some one of one time with Minnie and mom would make her feel more secure.
AWW I am so hopeful for Miss Daisy's forever home as well!!! This seems wonderful. You know what my female human said today? She looked at Miss Daisy's picture and said "She is just as shiny as you, Bunk baby! Should WE bring her home?" I told them I was having NONE of that. Miss Daisy is so beautiful but no sharing of food in this pug household! Plus, I keep eating up my bed so she won't have a place to sleep. But good luck to her!!!! I am going to try my best to keep those humans away from the laptop now. Silly pug humans.
I'm glad your house is OK now!
what a crazy day! thanks pugness your mom was up that time. Oh we are so excited for Daisy finding her new forever home really really soon!

Good heavens! You all had a crazy day!!! It is a good thing that your mom was up and was able to turn the water off and call the plumber! Good Luck with the whole foster thing! Hope she finds a furever home and soon!!! Everybody deserves a good furever home!! xoxo Chloe and LadyBug
I am very much glad that you didn't have more damage than that.. Lucky hu-mom was sleepless.
First please give my very best to Josh as he embarks on a journey of great discovery, comraderie, and service to this great country. We should all be very proud of him!
Poor hu-mom, what a Saturday! But if Daisy finds a good home it will all be worth it!
Mack, tell hu-parents to spring for a bed for you if they are going to keep having fosters that take over yours! Jeeshhhhhhhh!
Gampy

Hi Minnie! Please make sure to tell Josh how much we appreciate and value his service! Goodness, what an insane night/morning! It is a good thing that hu-mom was up. Tell Miss Daisy good luck deciding on her forever home! I bet it will be tough to choose. And I think Mack is probably holding out on asking for a bed in hopes that he can come snuggle in my bed! Hehee!
Love,
Payton
My goodness - glad you caught that before it really brought the ceiling down!
Great to catch up on your recent posts - glad Daisy is doing so well! Mack will just have to learn to curl up a bit more to fit into the cat bed!
Hi Minnie! I'm very proud of your Hu-Brother Josh, please give him all our love and best wishes and thank him for his service to our countris. He is doing such a wonderful thing! Oh your poor Hu-mom it really was a crazy Saturday for you guys! I'm going to be sad to see Miss Daisy go to fer forever home but I'm glad she has a choice where to go! All the best to her too! Lots of Love, Licks and Pugalier Hugs from your friend Frank xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Holy Hole in the ceiling! YIKES! My Mommy would have been freaking out too!!!
Paws crossed that one of the families works out for Miss Daisy!!!!
Neato! We selfishly hope Daisy gets to live furever with the first family. That is a great sign that she got along well with the Bostie/Pug mix. Minnie, I'm sorry you are a little miffed at the fostering. It is quite a change, but hopefully you will get used to it. Make sure to give your hu-brother LOTS of sugars to last him through boot camp.
