New Year Resolution #2 and Good Bye Friends :(

This one was hu-dad's idea.

Here it is:

Stop barking when something moving goes by outside our front windows.

How are we to  protect the home front from who knows what?  The hu-mans sure don't stand guard.  Our job is to get the attention of everyone who is in the house and sound the warning.  Kind of like that smoke alarm that goes off everytime the oven door is open.  (That thing scares the bejeeses out of me, Mack and the kitties.  Then the hu-mans stand under it and wave at it with a dish towel. What gives with that?)  Anyway, back to the topic in question--barking standing guard.   Sometimes there are strange dogs walking by on the sidewalk.  I've got to let Mack know, so I have to bark at him.  He comes running, then we both bark out warnings to the passing dog.  Just letting the passing dog know we are watching him and not to mess with our house! Then Mack likes to bark yell at cars that are going too fast down our cul-de-sac.  He just barks out a warning--SLOW DOWN!  Then there's the strange people going by.  Same thing.  We bark at them to let them know, no reason to stop at our house and rob us blind.  There are serious watch dogs here! Well, it's worked so far.

So I think resolution #2 needs to be revised to:  Continue to guard the Cooper house!

Here I am in my guard position (on the back of the couch by the front windows).
(Yes, I can guard with my eyes closed.)

Mack on guard duty. In position to sound the alert.

Here's a video we posted before of us guarding in action.

On a very sad note, we want to say good bye to some Blogville friends we've met online but never had the privledge to meet in person. We heard the news that they crossed the Rainbow Bridge. One of our friends here at home, Patches, also crossed the Rainbow Bridge today.  Our eyes are leaking terribly from the news.  We know the Circle of Life happens, but oh, it hurts so much.

Stubby, The Luke, Little Andy and Patches--you will be missed! All of you can run free and play again on the other side of the Bridge!  Say hello to Shadow and Butterscotch....

Love, Minnie

Morgan completely agrees with you! Homeland security is of the utmost importance. I just snooze on the couch since I know Morgan's got it covered.

It's a sad time, saying good-bye to blog friends!

Gracie guards our house the same way! You are terrific to watch the house like that... I'm so sorry about your friends. Now my eyes are leaking too.

So sorry to hear about your friends I do not know passing away recently. Seems to of been a real bad month. Losing dear Stubby 3 days ago and Nubbles on online friend's pug from cancer yesterday is almost to much to bare. I am sure they are all running fast and free from their ills at the bridge until that great reunion day.

Had to laugh at your post though. My pugs are always on guard. Building a snowman and it being in view is a big no no.....LOL.

Sorry to hear about your furiends passing. Even though we don't know them in person, it is still very sad and hard to hear the sad sad news.

As far as your resolutions go, you must remain on guard! Ebby and I are always protecting the house! The humans certainly don't do as good of a job as we do! BOL!

Cute post. I have two dog best friends that keep us quite safe. If someone enters our backyard they bark wildly so I know something is amiss. Such good best friends.
And sorry to hear about your friends that have passed on. It is so hard to go through, my thoughts and prayers are with you.
