The Critical Care vet just called after Minnie's ultra sound. The right side and center of her pancreas is greatly enlarged. It was pushing on the stomach and the couldn't tell if it was attached to the stomach or not. There also could be a mass hiding in the pancreas as well. After the ultra sound, the vet offered Minnie chicken strips and she ate them with gusto. The test now is to see if she can keep them down. I will call the vet back in about 5-6 hours to see if she was able to. If she does keep them down, then they'll offer her more later tonight. If she keeps those down, then she will probably be able to come home tomorrow morning for now. She'll have to have another ultra sound as a follow up in about a week to check her pancreas for the possibility of a mass and to see what was going on and to see if the inflammation is resolving. There might be a biopsy in her future as well. The vet said she was alert and feeling better. They have reduced the amount of morphine she's been getting for pain.
The vet was telling me an awful lot. I took a few notes, but I just hope I got the details correct!
So, she'll be spending another night there.
Thanks again for all the love and prayers for Minnie!

Oh, that is such good news! Glad Minnie ate something. And I'm sure she'll want more of the chicken tonight. We'll be praying that is stays down and the inflammation goes away. Thanks for keeping us posted.
Love,
Payton

Still sending lots of love your way, Minnie!
I am choosing to believe that it's just lots of inflammation and definitely not a mass. Let's get that appetite back and get you home, sweet girl!

Oh my goodnes - I'm so sorry to hear about Minnie!! And so sorry that our good wishes are so late (this is what happens when you're on a time zone different from the rest of the world!) - I've just got up and was checking through emails and had a quick peek at Google Reader and saw all your posts! How awful - it must have been so worrying. It's good to hear that Minnie is showing some positive signs and I hope it is nothing more than inflammation which will just settle down. We will be keeping you in our thoughts -

We just heard about Minnie from Riley. We are so sorry. We have our paws crossed for her to be doing much better very soon, and we hope there is no mass. Phantom has issues with his tummy too, and the vet suspects either chronic pancreatitis or IBD. Hugs to you from all of us.

Chicken strips = feeling much better! I'm thinking that there is no mass so my healing vibes are mass-less. Kisses to Minnie as she continues to recover.

That's good that she ate the chicken strips. Yum! She is still in my prayers, and so are you!
At least she's eating and more alert! I hope you get some answers soon, and that they're the sort you want to hear. I think waiting and being in limbo is the worst part!
Minnie you are in MY thoughts and I have my paws tightly crossed fur you. Keep us posted.

Hi Minnie's Mom,
Thank you for keeping us all posted with updates.
Still saying our prayers and sending good juju your way.
Hugs,

Hi,
This is really scary but you have an excellent vet who diagnosed it so quickly. Molly had this 5+ years ago and wasn't diagnosed for almost 2 weeks, she then spent 5 days in doggie hospital. They had to starve her and only give her liquids and flushing treatments. She did get better so we'll be thinking of Minnie until she comes home.

Still reading and still hoping for the best! Vinny has to go for an ultrasound and needle biopsy tomorrow because of highly elevated liver levels. So sad reading about (and dealing with) all of the sick pooches lately! :(
