A little bit of this and a little bit of that...

As of this morning we have 100 followers!  Since we began our blog almost one year ago on August 30, 2010, we would have never believed that many people would want to view what we do day to day!  We have gained many new Blogville friends -  2 legs and 4 legged -  and cherish their friendships.  We've shed a few too many tears for our friends that have crossed over the Bridge  but would have missed not having them in our lives even for a short time.  Each and everyone of you have enriched our lives by dropping by!  So Minnie and Mack  and hu-dad and I say THANK YOU!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On our evening walk the other night, we came upon the biggest bird and her nest that we have ever seen!  Take a look at the picture below:  (click on it to  make it bigger)
 It took a minute but came to the conclusion that it is one of the most unusual and creative things we've seen in a long time!
The bird is wrought iron.  You won't believe what the egg is!  You know those annoying light green plastic covers that  stick up and grace yards in subdivisions  (a small price to pay for underground utilities)....that's what the egg is!   The owners of this home made the nest out of a big flower pot with the bottom cut out and plunked it down on top of the green thing and surrounded it with twigs!  The "nest" is about 1 1/2 feet wide.  The mother bird is about 3 1/2 feet high.  Have you even seen anything like this?  If you click on the picture below of the "nest" you can see TV printed on the top of the egg, LOL.  If the cable folks need to access the wires under the plastic cover, they just lift off the "nest"!
While I was out with hu-mom on our early Saturday morning walk, we heard a lot of crows.  We looked up and this is what we saw.  Kind of spooky?  (Hu-mom says her cell phone camera does not have zoom....)
Here's to a good week and please stay cool!
Love,
Minnie :)
I love the nest, what a creative way to camouflage a somewhat unattractive necessity.
After reading Georgia Little Pea's blog, I am not sure I'd linger near those birds! I think that is one of the most creative lawn solutions I've ever seen! What a good idea!
Hi Y'all!
Is it Halloween already and I missed the rest of summer? (re: picture of crows in tree)
What a creative way with the bird and nest to have a pretty garden and disguise an ugly intrusion!
Y'all come back now,
