Here I am enjoying the sunshine. You can see that the grass is not doing too well with all the heat...and the leaves are starting to fall.
We really haven't done anything fun away from the house since I was sick. I'm feeling so much better, running, playing with my toys and trying to hump Mack from time to time. The only thing that is not back to normal is my stamina on long walks. Hu-mom says I just drag after 20 minutes. She thinks its both the heat and my stamina. She's probably right. Every now and then I vomit so she shoves a Pepcid A/C down my throat, but it sure does help.
Mack had a check up yesterday. His allergies are really bothering him right now. He is scratching all the time. The vet said he should try having a bath once a week! Can you believe that? At least she didn't say I needed one every week, too.
Mack now has cataracts in both eyes, but small at this point. They will need monitoring but no treatment at this time. He also has darkening of the whites of his eyes (I can't remember the scientific term the vet used) which she said was caused by his facial folds rubbing on the eyeball. No treatment for that at this time either. The vet said she could give Mack a face lift but hu-mom wasn't so gung ho with that right now. I guess it sucks getting old...well, that's what hu-mom says from time to time. Otherwise, Mack is healthy and very Pug-like! He is now 8 1/2.
And like most pugs, he can stand to lose a few pounds. He was a perfect weight for so long, but the lack of walks this summer had made Mack even more of a couch potato. Hu-mom said he is not the only one that has put on a few pounds this summer. We won't name any names....but it's not me! I lost a few when I was sick and have kept it off!
My vet still wants me to stay away from other doggies, which means no play dates and no dog parks for awhile. I only get to hang out with Mack and the kitties.
Do you remember me showing you pictures last year of my 4 walking buddies (4 legged type)? You won't believe this but the last one moved out of our neighborhood last week. I sure do miss all of them. Walking with just Mack is pretty boring.
My hu-mom brother Joe graduates from college and is moving back home today. That is great because that means someone else to try to get to play! Also his fiances kitty, Mr Meow-gi (think Karate Kid and Mr. Miyagi ) is moving in with him. I just love kitties. I hope he likes me.
We would also like our Blogville friends to send some juju, pug hugs, etc.,to one of our senior work mates, Jackie the Border Collie, who is suffering from Congestive Heart Failure. Her vet is going to try her on a medication. If it works, she will have about 1 year more. If not...
Love,
Minnie : )

Hi Minnie! I'm so glad you are feeling better and playing a lot more. Don't worry about not being able to walk for very long...you'll be back to leaving Mack in the dust in no time!
Hi Mack! I think you look great! I turned 8 in March of this year, so I know how aging sucks...
Glad you are back on-line, we missed you both.
Love,
Payton
PS. Sending prayers for Jackie.
Minnie- glad to hear you are feeling better. Mack- you are aging well. Like a fine wine.
We will send out lots of good vibes!
Paws crossed that Jack's new medicine works!
We haven't been getting out nearly as much as we'd like this summer, either! It's been very disappointing! They say we had the hottest July in history here. That doesn't make me feel better.

Sorry to hear about Jackie the BC. I will cross my paws fur a good result.
It sounds like you are STILL having the major HOT weather.
A baff ... every EVERY week??? That is CRAZY. No way would I want THAT. I would rather Scartch.
Sorry you lost your walkin buddies.
It is very much good that you are back.
Hi Minnie,
So glad you are feeling better! I think Mack is adorable, even if the vet wanted to do a face lift.
Hugs,
Suki
Oh Minnie! We're glad you're feeling better!!!! I'm SURE it's just the heat causing you to drag a bit!
I'll bet Sweet Mackie has Pigmentary Keretitis (like me!). Mom has to squirt these crazy expensive drops in my eyes to keep it under control (search our blog for that term....we did a link from a Vet site about it and you might find it helpful!).
Kisses to you both, but one extra for Mack because he looks like me!
Love,
S-Dog
Just dropping by from the Saturday Blog Hop! So nice to meet another blogger puggle!
So glad you are doing great, Minnie! Hope it cools down soon so you can go for nice long walks again. Mack will lose the weight then, too. =)
Im sorry to hear about your cataracts.
Dr Zira who will be 13 in December (our brussels griffon) has cataracts. She can still see some and gets around the house fine.
We are not doing anything as of now becuase I wouldnt want to subject her to surgery at her age when she is doing well. Our vet hasnt prescribed any meds or anything either
Great news that your feeling better. I hope you can have a big fun play date real soon, right after all these sickies go away.
Nubbin wiggles,
Oskar
Hi Minnie and Mack!
Minnie, my mommy has been bad on the blogging too lately, so she just scrolled back and found out about your pancreatitis! OMD I am so sorry you were so sick! But I am so relieved to hear you are doing much better!
Poor Mack and his cataracts. Getting old sure isn't easy.
I will keep my paws crossed for both of you!
Hugs and Licks, Bruschi & Ebby
Our mom has been on blogging hiatus too. We even went swimming and she hasn't posted. Pfft! Sorry to hear about Mack's allergies. We feel his pain for sure. The thought of baths every week...SHUDDER. Mom says we get that wiley eye when we feel the first cool breeze blow through. Maybe that will do the trick for you Minnie.
Minnie we are so glad you are feeling better! And Mack, you sure are good looking for 8 years old! Hope you don't have to get that facelift.
Later!
Vito
I think this blogoliday has been catching! I'm so glad you are feeling better, Minnie! And, Mack--you look pretty cool to me! I don't think a face lift would be much fun though. Getting old DOES suck, but the alternative is worse, at least that's what MY Mom says.....
Paws crossed for Jackie. I hope the meds work.
Hi Minnie
I will keep sending you healing magic bubbles so that you keep getting stronger! You will feel perfect in no time at all!
Mack, you will be so soft and fluffy after your weekly baths.
Allergies are no fun at all, so I hope they work.
I have some brown spots in my eyes too,, I think it is what Salinger has.
Your age is perfect Mack.
I will send healing wishes to your friend Jackie- magic bubbles of healing and paws crossed.
Nitey nite
love
