Deal With It!

Post by hu-mom today.

I've been a follower of Tales and Tails for a long time.  The past two posts have been about Bunny dealing with her disappointment.  And it made me think about what Mack did while we were gone.

We (hu-dad and I ) were out of town for 8 days this month.  A care taker was living in, taking care of Grandmother.  Our dog walker was coming 2x a day to give attention and care to the 4 leggers.  There were also four other 20-something humans still at the house, they were working during the day but were giving the pups attention when they were home. So there was a total of six humans at our house. Now Mack, the pug, is usually very good.

But for an unknown reason, on the fist day of her being there, he pooped, on the couch, right next to Grandmother's caretaker. Maybe he was giving her a gift?  Now she wasn't real fond of the dogs to begin with and was very fastidious.  Since I wasn't there, I can't say that she freaked out but I've heard the story. The only good thing is that it was Sunday and the 20-somethings weren't working that day.  She found one of them and it was cleaned up quickly.  Being poop the smell was worse than the clean up. (Think Tootsie Rolls) So windows were opened, etc. Thank goodness, there were no other accidents!  I just wonder if she ever sat on the couch again?

Mack on THE COUCH!
Usually when we return home, the care taker gives us a run down and chats for a while. But this caretaker, couldn't leave fast enough! They usually also say, " see you next time" or something along those lines. Not a word about next time.  So I guess we might not be seeing her again.  These ladies are wonderful.  The come into your home and take care of the elderly, which is their main job, but also manage the home while you are gone. If we didn't have these wonderful ladies, we would not be able to get away!  I have to remember that not everyone loves animals like we do!

So I guess this was Mack's way of letting ME know that he was not happy with the situation.  But Mack is just going to have to deal with it because we have plans for another trip or two!

Hi Hu-Mom, Minnie, Mack and Mario,
This is really funny because it reminds me of the time when my Nanna Moyna got a new carpet, it had been down for a whole week and no dogs were supposed to be allowed on it and no shoes were to be worn on it and things but Auntie Jude and Uncle Steve were going off on holiday and Jasper had to stay there so Nan let me go in the newly carpeted living room and guess what?? I peed all over the floor!!! I had never had an accident in the house so I guess it was my way of "christening" it as mine! She had it coming really! Ha,Ha! After that dogs, shoes and all were allowed and everyone was happy again! It was hysterical!
I think that Mack pooping on the couch was a sign of his feelings for sure, especially as it was right next to your Grandmother's caretaker! Maybe it was an initiation for her?? Maybe he WAS giving her a gift? Maybe he was showing his displeasure at the situation? Maybe (like me) he was teaching her a lesson! Whatever the reason us doggies can pick up on the feelings of others and it sounds to me her feelings were very anti-doggy!

Oh Mack, Gracie has tested us by doing very similar stunts but it doesn't work. Be nice to the caregiver... :-)

I am taking notes on proper behavior when the hu-MOMS are away. But usually I stay at Auntie B's house and she not only spoils me with attention but she exhausts me with a lot of walks. So when my Mommys do get home I am too tired to poop - REALLY!!!!!

Funny how they are sure to let us know when they are not happy with us. :)

Oh didn't, did you?? Surely your mom is telling lies on you?? :) Ah well. Mack has to deal with it and the caretaker also has to learn to deal with it...! Your house can't be the only house that they have dogs at, right?

Oh dear! You know, Mack - do you think your age might have something to do with it? Not meaning to be rude, of course, ahem - but being a senior doggie myself, my humans have realised recently (in the last 6 months or so) - I've started sort of "regressing" in my bowel control. Oh, not on purpose - I am till house-trained and all that but you know, when I gotta go, I gotta go! When I was youngger, I could hold it all day if I had do - if we wre in an "inappropriate place" - but now, when I get the urge, I just start sort of can't help myself - I REALLY NEED TO GO NOW!!! And I get really distressed and hover around the door of the house, semi-squatting, trying to hold it in but not having much luck. If my humans aren't quick enough to let me out into the garden - well, once I have to admit, something did (*whispers*) - ahem, er - "fall out" from my bottom. And like on my walks - I used to die rather than ever poo on the pavement. I know I need to get onto grass, like a good doggie. But now - sometimes if we're walking on pavement and I'd forgotten to go on the grass earlier or something - well, when I get the urge, I just gotta go. There isn't time to rush me to the next patch of grass - I just have to squat & go on the concrete. Which I'm really embarrassed about but I just can't help myself...

Oh don't get me wrong - it's not like I'm incontinent or anything. I don't have these sorts of accidents most of the time - but my humans have just noticed that I really can't "hold it" very well anymore and like a young child or puppy, when I gotta go, I gotta go quick!! :-)

So yeah - maybe just something for you to think about?

I have a really hard time with people who dont like dogs. Pretty much my whole family is like that, my husbands family are more dog people. Hopefully, Mack gets a little better with the situation

Honestly, I think that they can sense when people aren't particularly fond of dogs! Chloe has left a "present" before as fact, when she is upset with me...for going out without her...she will do that!

Enjoy your weekend!

So glad that you had a time to get-away from your care taking duties. We've been taking care of my husband's grandmother for six years now - she's 106....and going strong.

We're looking forward to our own get-away this summer after a long stretch of care taking.

Your house sounds a lot like mine - with the 20 something humans living here - we have 3-4 right now....and 4 dogs...and one cat...and a Granny next door... it's a life.

Dropping by on the blog hop today - I posted an oldie, but goodie video about the use of military dogs in the wars... to help us remember ALL of the ones who are protecting America overseas. Thank a veteran this weekend - and their dog!

Enjoy the long weekend with your furry kids.
