Hike In Herndon

Today is a rainy, overcast day so I'll show you some pictures from our hike on Sunday in the park near our house.  My human friend, Alicia, took these pictures. I went on this hike with my hu-mom, Mack and our neighborhood evening walking group.  To "bigify" any of these pictures, just click on 'em.

There are several of these crossovers in the park.  Mack had to be dragged across.

The only 2 legger to cross by walking in the water was the little 2 legger! She was across first. She likes to be at the head of the pack.

On this  hike we decided to take one of the unpaved trails. It was a gorgeous day.

My hu-mom with me and Mack.

My lady friends.  Mack and Corey (human) are the only MALE members of our group.

Corey and Mandy

Time for a breather.  Corey said this area is where the foxes have their dens.  He showed us some humps that were dens.  Corey saw a fox up ahead, but no one else caught a glimpse.

Up the long hill.

Back down the hill along the stream bank.
As we were crossing, Corey stepped on a concrete block that was used as a stepping stone. Then Beverly, the little 2 legger stepped on the concrete.  A HUGE snake was next to the block and looked up at her!
It turned out to be non poisonous but it scared the you know what out of hu-mom.  If you look carefully at the next picture, you can see it in on the left.  You might need to "bigify" the picture to see it.

We're back on the trail and heading home.

Beverly was getting tired and was happy to be heading home!

Not sure what was going on here but you can see the 5 of us doggies. On this leg of the hike, there were quite a few people, dogs and bikes along the way, so maybe we were recovering from being passed. Oh yeah, there is a strange dog at the front of the group.

Out of the park, back into our neighborhood and on the last block home!  Whew we were all tired.

Oh, this reminds us of hikes we used to take in the forest when we lived close to Quantico! Bee-yoo-ti-ful!

Oh - that looks like a great outing!! What a beautiful forest to hike through. And Hsin-Yi was really pleased to see Mack with the group coz you know she's thinking she might get a Pug one day but she always worried about their ability to go on walks - since my humans really like walking!

That looks like a lovely hike! I'm hoping we get to go out and do a little of that this weekend. I'm not sure I'd be too excited to see a big snake, though!
