Getting Back to "Normal"

Our household is beginning to get back to normal after Minnie's sickies set in.  She has not vomited again and shows no signs of pain.  We are decreasing her medications and increasing the amount of boiled chicken and rice (yummy) she gets.  She still getting 4 small meals a day.  Mack says it is NOT fair!!!!
She yearns for "real food" but is such a trooper.  She takes her meds without a fight or having to hide them in food. When Mack eats his "real food"  she doesn't crowd around him.  We still have to be on guard when she is outside since she always, always wants to eat grass and that was a BIG no no from the doctor. Since it has been so hot out, we haven't really missed any long hikes. It's going to be back near 100 again for the rest of the week, so we won't have been outside much anyway.
Minnie has her follow up ultra sound late Monday afternoon.  We have our paws crossed that her pancreas is less inflamed and enlarged.
It's funny (not really) that returning to normal life would be a such a blessing! We need a reminder every now and then of all the wonderful family and friends - furred and unfurred -  we have!

Minnie this afternoon, after napping!

Each day Minnie seems a little more energetic and her old self.  Today she found one of her most favorite mini tennis balls hiding in the pachysandra in the back yard.  She pulled it out and dropped it but did not yet try to place fetch with me and it.

The hardest part of all was seeing her in so much pain and not able to make it go away or know what or where on her body it was coming from.  We have wonderful vets!!!

We thank all our Blogville friends again for such support and love.

Minnie, Mack, Hu-mom and hu-dad

I am so happy to see such great pictures, Minnie! We are still thinking about you. It's hot here too, so I haven't been able to enjoy outside either. Say Hi to Mack for me.

Awwwww this is just the most wonderful post. I can tell that Minnie is on the way to a full recovery!!
No GRASS??? I was NOT aware that we couldn't have Grass. Did the Dawgtor say WHY??? Soooooo many of us Love to Graze in the Green Grasses. I'm thinkin that no one else knows we shouldn't have it either. My MOM is gonna have a Squirrel when she hears this.

Minnie you keep on being a super duper cooperative patient and you will soon be playin ball like a puppy again!!

Oh Minnie, we are SO happy you are home and feeling better. You are looking beautiful! My mom knows what your mom means about how hard it is to see us sick and not know where it is hurting. When we had our foster Pippa she got so sick and no one could figure it out. Now she's living with her permanent mom and after meds & time, she is totally back to normal and healthy! The vets think that it was an inflammation in her brain due to some kind of parasite. Yikes!!!

Again we're so glad you are home and will continue to send puppy prayers for your full recovery! And we hope Mack has been a good brother to you!

Later!
Vito
