Minnie is Sick - We need the power of the paw!

Minnie threw up early this AM and again around 10:30 AM today.  She was not herself at all.  On the way home from work, she could  not get comfortable in her car seat.  We were able to get in to see the vet this afternoon.  After checking her out and xrays, the vet did not find anything.
She said if she gave her any anti-nausea meds it might cover up the symptoms.  She said to keep her off food until at least tomorrow morning.  As the afternoon wore on, Minnie got worse.  When someone came to the door, she did not get off the couch to greet them.  She started shivering and really acted like she was in pain.  I called the doctor back and was told to come right in.  We got there quickly.  Blood was drawn.  Certainly levels were high.  She was diagnosed with pancreatitis and would need to go the specialist vet to stay since our vet did not have overnight care.  Before we left the regular vets, she gave her a pain killer, thank goodness.  So we drove to the ER vet which took us about 40 minutes in rush hour. After about 20-30 minutes the pain meds took effect. The ER vet examined  her and came to the same conclusion.  Minnie will be there at least over night so she can get fluid, pain killers and antibiotics, and a ultra sound tomorrow, etc.  There is no "silver bullet" treatment for this.  On a scale from 1-10, Minnie is a 5.  The vet said she should be OK.   This is where we need the power of the paw!  This can be fatal.....

Minnie at our 1st vet appointment this afternoon, feeling bad....

Minnie after the pain killers took effect on the ride to the ER vet.

After the pain killers kicked in, she was so tired, she had a hard time keeping her head up. Even her little lips were stuck but at least she was not in so much pain.

We are keeping our fingers crossed that she will be a lot better tomorrow and will be able to come home!  This all happened so fast!  Yesterday she was fine.....

Oh No Minnie!

My Mom & I are keeping you in our prayers and sending positive thoughts your way.

In your 1st picture, I can tell you aren't feeling your perky self. Glad the vet gave you something to relieve the pain.

Cat-Scan, you're going to be scanned with a live cat. Hope this cat has special powers to make you feel better.

Hugs,
Suki

We will be praying for Minnie at our home. Poor baby girl!! The last time we experienced something that was similarly rapid in occurrence was when Gracie Lynn had to go to a university hospital within a few days of a 24 hour visit at an emergency vet due to lack of oxygen. She had to have her palette trimmed. I can understand the pain in not knowing what is going on and the pain of not being able to hold her paw while she goes through all this that is unknown and scary. We hope that the pancreatitis is something that she can easily recover from and be back to her perky self in no time at all.
Much luvums,
The Slimmer Puggums and especially their mama Mindy

I'm going to pray with my mom right now. Minnie and family, we are thinking about you and know all too well about this ordeal. My gall bladder was on the verge of rupture, but just like you, I showed no signs until the vomiting and restlessness. It's a miracle that we were already in Chicago for one of my routine check-ups so that Dr. Podell could be near to handle any surgical complications because of my PDE. Then on top of it, my mom got the flu...I think she was over-stressed. But don't worry, we know Minnie will be fine and get through this with flying colors, just like I did. In fact, I was ready to play way before my mom was.
Tons of love and prayers,
Payton

I have all my paws crossed and Momma and Daddy have their fingers and toes crossed. I just know Minnie is going to be alright because the power of the paw is the strongest form of medicine there is.

My friends Howie Pee Pants and Miley both have this same issue and they are doing just fine. Minnie will pull through and be back to normal in no time.

Hi! My name is Erin and I'm from Buzz the diabetic dog's blog.

About 7 months ago, we went through Buzz being diagnosed with pancreatitis and colitis and pretty much general inflammation of every single internal organ he had.

I absolutely know how scary this can be because it changes your loving, friendly pup into a sick, sad, scared pup.

But just keep pushing through and do everything you can to make Minnie feel better! Buzz stayed in the hospital for almost 4 days, and when we brought him home, he wasn't any better (couldn't even jump on and off the couch), but he recovered - slowly, but surely.

You are most definitely in my thoughts!

Erin
