We Survived the Earthquake of 2011

Mack and I were home alone with Grandmother and the kitties when the earthquake hit at about 2:00PM today.  Hu-mom said she wished she were home so she could have seen how we acted. When she got home a little later, we were fine. We don't have any damage that we can see and are holding our breaths for after shocks.  Hu-mom and dad have lived through worse earthquakes when they lived in California. But hu-mom said it scared the you know what out of her when it hit. She was sitting a red light.  She said it felt like someone was on the back bumper and shaking the car.  Then she noticed that the other cars were doing the same thing and the signal light was swinging.  Then she realized what was going on. All of the other family members have similar stories except for Josh.  He said he was driving and didn't feel a thing.. Hu-mom tried to call hu-dad and the siblings, but cell phones weren't working.  Texting wasn't working either.  It's been a few hours, the roads are a mess with traffic (most offices closed early so buildings could be inspected), damage reports are coming in but no reports of any deaths! Texting came back first and then cells.  It seems that Verizon is most popular because some of the smaller companies didn't have that much of a problem.

We are blessed that there is so bodily injury and little damage to property.

We hope our other Virginia/DC/Maryland friends are safe and sound!

Hi Minnie and Mack! Thanks so much for posting...we were wondering if you guys were ok. Hope it didn't scare you too bad, but make sure your hu-mom gives you both a treat regardless! I've only been in one and it was mild, but it was my parents first too and in the middle of the night so they grabbed me and went in a closet cause they thought it was a tornado (since we live in that alley). Heehee!
Love,
Payton

I'm glad all is well there. I was driving too, and didn't feel a thing. When I got back to work the first question I was asked was, "Did you feel the earthquake?" I thought my boss had lost her marbles! Hugs to you all. Hopefully that's the last of the Virginia quakes!!

Scared the poop out of mom too! She was on the 7th floor of her building and nearly fell over. At home, we didn't even have a picture fall off the wall or anything. THANK GOD!

Now, for Irene. What next? Plagues of locusts or zombies?
