First Foster Pug Has Arrived

Now that hu-mom is at home all the time, she decided she has the time to foster.  We are happy to introduce Miss Daisy, a new member of Mid Atlantic Pug Rescue.

She came to us from an Animal Shelter in Winchester VA.  Her age is in question maybe 10, but she does have gray eyebrows and a few stray grays in her face.  Of course, no foster arrives without glitches!

She was an owner surrender from the information we received and was good with dogs and children.  I think she was at the shelter for at least a week.  She is in HEAT!  Something new for our family.  Hu-mom went out and purchased Miss Daisy some doggie panties.  They don't bother her at all.  We can tell she's had puppies at one time.  So, hu-mom has a question---how long are pugs in heat and do dogs go through menopause?  Her paperwork indicated a possible age of 10. So if anyone knows the answer, let us know!

So once we get Miss Daisy spayed and her few medical problems taken care of, she will be on her way to a new home!  She gets along really well with Mack and me, hasn't paid any attention to the kitties.  She is a real sweetie and pretty, black and very shiny.

I, Minnie, was not real thrilled when I met Miss Daisy.  She was trying to get hu-mom's attention and I gave her the ugly face and a little bitty face.  But after a while, I could tell she would share the love!  Mack only wanted to smell her, then he left her alone.  You know Mack's sweetheart is Payton and he wouldn't want to make Payton jealous!

We wish you a Happy New Year for 2012!

Love, Minnie

We had an uncle who didn't believe in spaying and his dachshund mix was still having heats at age 16. Dogs may not have a "menopaws" at all.

Minnie I know just how you feels. I have had my share of "ugly" moments with SQUATTERS!!!! But they do go away. Congrats on fostering.

Heat....a lovely thing that owners of spayed dogs never have to experience. However We have had two recently and it will last for a few weeks. We thankfully didn't have much trouble out of Betty or Tinkerbell (she was coming out of a heat the week she was surrendered to our rescue). Just make sure you keep her on a leash outside. A mature lady such as Daisy doesn't need no babies.

Good luck!!!

Miss Daisy is a cutie! She will be sure to find a home quickly. You all are so great to care for rescue pugs! I'm sure Mack will be the gentleman that he is and show love to Daisy but save all the kisses for me! I only wish I could kiss him when the ball drops tonight. Happy new year Minnie and Mack!
Love,
Payton

Ms. Daisy is so shiny!!! I feel like all black pugs are. Congrats on fostering. My humans could not foster. They are too weak-willed and would not be able to give the dogs away to new owners. So congratulations on being strong-willed!:) I'm a male so I don't know much about this menopaws situation but will ask other pugs around! Will let you know if I find out something! Love, Bunk the Pug.

What a great thing to do! She'll bleed for 3-9 days, and I don't think dogs go through menopause. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Do you think your mama will get attached to Miss Daisy? Our mama said she is so cute - it would be hard to let her go...

Happy New Year!

Daisy is adorable!

Mom says good luck with her being in heat. We think that lasts for about three weeks, but the vet would be a better person to ask than us. It might not be too bad since she's a bit older, though. She is going to make some family very happy!

Happy New Year!
